A Quarter to Africa is a Middle Eastern Afro-punk band with a modern and unique groove, led by the esteemed music producer and saxophonist Yakir Sasson.

The Quarter to Africa show serves as a bridge between Israeli cultures, and provides an experience of world music that comes from the neighborhoods of Morocco, Yemen, and anywhere that has a sense of groove and life. Sasson founded the ensemble in 2014, after completing academic studies and numerous productions in the fields of pop, jazz, and Arabic music in Israel and around the world.

After performing on many stages in Israel and around the world, the band members released their first album (The Layback), which received recognition from radio stations and music critics, with hits such as “Tehabil Tirbach”, “Connect”, and “The Layback” (the joint single with Ravid Plotnik).

The project released 4 more albums.

Since its inception, the ensemble has performed in various countries overseas: Japan, South Korea, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Dubai, Siberia, Switzerland, Germany, Gibraltar, and more.
