Ariel Hirschfeld is a cultural and literary critic, essayist, and researcher of Hebrew literature, and a full professor in the Department of Hebrew Literature at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

What is longing? Expressions of longing in Hebrew poetry throughout its generations. And what is the contribution of music to words that express longing.

We will deal with passages from the Bible, with the poetry of Yehuda Halevi, Bialik, Rachel, Leah Goldberg, and Hedva Harkabi.
