The “Itay Armon Ensemble” is an original and multi-influenced ethnic music ensemble that crosses cultures, borders, and traditions, from Central Asia, through the Middle East, to contemporary Western music.
The extraordinary fusion of traditional Eastern and Western instruments alongside contemporary arrangements brings unique sounds to our ears, drawing the listener into a layered, colorful, and even hypnotic journey that takes place in changing landscapes and ancient cultures, and is in a constant dialogue between the old and the new.
From this ongoing dialogue, a sonic portrait of nature grows that invites listeners to remove the barriers of imagination and surrender.
The blend of the Persian tar and the kamancha, ancient musical instruments from the Persian provinces , alongside traditional musical instruments such as the Arab ney and the Armenian duduk, meets the Western electric guitar and bass into a unifying and exciting combination.
Through the music, the instruments, and the connection between the members of the ensemble, we are exposed to the composer’s life journey, step by step, with each segment of the performance representing a specific moment in his travels – from his periods in the Negev, the Arava, the Dead Sea, and Safed, to his travels in South America, India, and the Far East, through Greece, Turkey, and Egypt, to his home in the Jerusalem mountains.
